Well INFJs.. You knew it was coming. There’s

no way around the fact that this introverted

personality type comes off as reserved, private,

and even slightly anti-social at times. Sure,

their energy to fit that of another person,

but deep down inside they much prefer to keep

to themselves. To put it simply, if INFJs could

socialize without talking they would happily

observe from afar, in fact, being a fly on

the wall is the INFJ’s favorite social scenario.

And this doesn’t go unnoticed by others. In fact,

get-togethers before the INFJ even touches

the surface of speaking their minds. However, the

good side to this noticeable quality is people

notice that the INFJ shows a great respect for

personal space and social boundaries. Although

they will usually keep their emotions at a certain

distance from others, it usually comes off as them

being a bit more formal throughout their social

interactions, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

But despite their reserved nature, other people

will quite often find them to be quite pleasant

company, and many people tend to feel oddly

secure and comfortable enough to be open and

adjectives that the INFJ wouldn’t be surprised

to be described as. They’re constantly reflecting,

analyzing, observing and introspecting on life and

everything in it. And although their reserved

nature doesn’t always prompt them to share

their analytical findings with others, their

deep demeanor is noticeable from the outside

looking in. They may be seen staring off into the

distance, reiterating their past experiences, or

pushing to connect with people’s emotional sides.

Rooted in this reflective and nostalgic-based

energy comes a slight intensity that hints at

the depth they hold. However, without knowing

the INFJ’s imaginative thought processes, one

could easily mistaken this intensity as intense

seriousness, making them seem rather strict

and stern, which is certainly a misconception.

energy, people with the INFJ personality type

can be perceived as a considerably graceful and

sophisticated individual in the eyes of others.

Depending on the setting and person, this quiet

nature can come across as quite an attractive

appeal with an essence of mysteriousness.

Although they can morph their demeanor to

match others like we’ve mentioned, they have

an unwavering poise and politeness that is

never not apparent. This gives the INFJ’s inner

beauty a spotlight to shine outside of their

physical looks showing others how charming and

courteous they really are. The best part of it

all is that this grace comes with an obvious

talking to, they’ll always show up gracefully.

the INFJ as just plain weird.. and they’re not

exactly wrong. INFJs are extremely unique and

often don’t relate to a lot of the world or the

people in it. So, it’s understandable that their

discomfort within the world is kind of noticeable

to others. Whether it’s their deep life questions,

their reluctance to open up about themselves,

or the simple fact that there’s not many people

like them in the world.. Some people walk

away from a social engagement with an INFJ

and can’t help but to think ‘what an interesting

person’. Sure, the INFJ could have very well been

doing their best to mirror the other person’s

energies, but even then, their natural opinions

Not only do they know what’s going on at every

level in their lives, whether it be the recent

drama at work, or the state of the world, but they

also have an opinion about it. They’ve analyzed it

from every angle, viewed it from every perspective

and dived head first to get the closest thing

to truth behind the chaos as they can. This

gives them both accuracy and a particularly

non-bias stance that gives other people the

sense of non-judgmental openness to deepen a

conversation. And that’s the only thing INFJs

really hope for when socializing with others.

One of the first things people will pick up on

about the INFJ personality type within minutes

of meeting them is their old soul. It’s not rare

for this independent and grounded type to have

been told more than once that they seem mature

for their age. With these non-bias insights,

for materialism, their innate need for solitude,

their desire to go against the status quo and

their philosophical view of life, some INFJs feel

themselves that they’re wise beyond their years,

into a welcoming and comforting energy that

people feel drawn to without much effort.

INFJs are sensitive beings in more ways than

one. Whether it be sensitive to outer stimuli

like loud noises and large crowds, emotionally

sensitive to other people’s energies and violence,

or mentally sensitive to constructive criticisms,

no amount of tough exterior will hide their

sensitivities as time goes on. Of course,

INFJs will do whatever it takes to bear the human

experience of any of the mentioned sensitivities,

a wimp or a burden to a social gathering.

But for the most part, it doesn’t take long before

someone witnesses one of the many sensitives an

Seemingly domineering with their perfectionistic

exterior, yet deeply appreciative and playful

for some people that try to win them over.

Whether it’s in a romantic setting or even

Like most of the INFJs contradictory habits,

this difficulty to satisfy can make the INFJ

come off as slightly more strict than they

really are. It may make them seem like they

think nothing is ever good enough when in reality

they just have a particular vision that they know

can be achieved somehow. And they’ll probably try

their best to let you off as easily as possible.

Named the advocate and the counselor of the

16 personality types, the empathic INFJ can’t

help but to put other people before them. They

are pleasers by heart and actually find true

joy and satisfaction from doing so. And not

only do they genuinely want to help others,

but they don’t think it’s such a crazy-kind

thing to do either. They see human-decency as

a natural trait and they’re confused when other

people lack it. However, one thing people also

may pick up on is that sometimes INFJs care for

others to a degree that ends up being harmful

to their own good. By being of service to another

at a cost to themselves can end up attracting all

the wrong people, and that’s when empathy

becomes a serious challenge for this type.

person, or even a group of people and they

will easily be able to match their energy.

Sure, people may just think that they’re a

naturally social or even extroverted type who

gets along well with others, but once someone

sees the INFJ connect with different types

of people using different levels of charm,

it’s clear there’s more going on there than

they’d originally realized. Because of this

mirroring ability, some may end up wondering who

the INFJ really is beneath their camouflage-cloak,

Alright, let’s get right into it starting with..

are rarely easy, and for an INFJ it can feel even

more difficult. However, INFJs have to think of it

this way.. Would they rather set the necessary

boundaries from the start and avoid any negative

feelings down the line, or wait until it all

becomes too much resulting in a complete shut out

of all social interaction? INFJs must think of

their mental health and overall well being when

they’re in the decision making process of

taking on another commitment. If not, the

perfectionist in the INFJ will surely take over

regardless of how overburdened they’re feeling.

This caring personality type needs to understand

that it’s not selfish, lazy or mean to set

boundaries around their precious time and energy.

The act of doing something creative is much

more beneficial for an INFJ than simply to have

fun. INFJs actually require creative downtime in

order to actively remove themselves from their

whirling thoughts and allow them to use their

complex thinking skills for something tangible.

Whether it be dancing, writing, singing, playing

an instrument or anything else that encourages a

creative thinking flow. Because this personality

type is always eager to get to their next task,

having a creative outlet makes it easier for an

INFJ to enjoy relaxation without getting bored

or feeling unproductive. Plus, when an INFJ is

being creative with something that they are not

you’re on the fast track to INFJ burnout healing.

Nature brings an INFJ a lot of the same benefits

as having a creative outlet would bring because

there are no expectations in nature - all that is

expected is for people to enjoy it’s company.

The solitude and calmness that nature brings

allows an INFJ to explore their thoughts while

their sensing remains busy, meaning a simple

walk in the forest or swim in the lake is a

win-win for both an INFJs introverted intuition

and their extroverted sensing. INFJs can feel a

deep sense of clarity and disconnection from their

commitments when they incorporate nature into

their lives in some way each day. In fact, just 30

minutes in nature per day can do wonders for the

INFJ, and really everyone else for that matter.

have a tendency to bottle up your emotions to

avoid feeling vulnerable or burdening others,

but we’re here to tell you to crack that bottle

open! Bottled emotions really don’t help anyone

in the long run, because as humans, we are made

to feel and release the emotions we experience..

It’s all part of the growth process. In fact,

bottling emotions is 1 habit that will surely

send you down a burnout lane if you don’t act upon

it. For an INFJ, it helps tremendously to have at

least 1 trusted and non-judgmental source where

they can genuinely talk about their feelings and

emotions. It’s not that they need reassurance or

advice necessarily, rather someone to just listen,

just as an INFJ does so well for other people.

Number 5: Right out all of your commitments

Sometimes INFJs can underestimate how many

commitments they really have on hand at all

times. And when you underestimate the amount of

commitments you’ve agreed to, it’s easy to blindly

take on a few more here and there without really

thinking about it.. Aka, the perfect formula for

INFJ burnout. For an INFJ who plans so much of

their lives in their heads, it helps to take some

of those thoughts and commitments onto paper to

get a better understanding of where their time is

really going. It’s best to write this commitment

list as detailed as possible, right down to the

commitments they’ve made to their friends

and family. By the end of writing the list,

the INFJ will not only realize how many people

in their lives they are committed to helping

in some way, but it also shows when and where

they can schedule in some much deserved “me” time.

back.. ‘Me’ time is NOT ‘free’ time. It’s

but it’s a whole nother achievement to actually

follow through with avoiding using that time to

fill in last minute priorities and commitments.

Scheduled time for self care is just as important,

if not more important than everything else

on that commitment list, because afterall

you can’t pour from an empty cup. Therefore,

INFJs must prioritize doing nothing for no one

but themselves. Silence and solitude are amazing

tools for INFJ to be able to effectively destress

and shake the self-deprecating thoughts that

have accumulated through their ongoing projects.

Number 7: Pay attention to your physical needs

Most INFJs can be considered highly sensitive

people. And not only do INFJs have heightened

senses, making it more intense to experience loud

noises, large groups of people, harsh smells,

bright lights, and so on.. But they also tend to

be very sensitive to things like lack of sleep,

hunger and stimulants like caffeine. While some

personality types can sleep a couple hours and

then work a full day, or skip a meal and feel

only slightly hungry - INFJs feel intense effects

when their physical bodies are out of whack.

Luckily, most of the time, INFJs will feel when

they’re reaching a burnout because of the intense

lack of physical and mental energy - and that’s

when they should start questioning how their

lifestyle is affecting their physical selves.

So, INFJs, aways check in with yourself for

water intake, when you’ve had your last meal,

how many hours of sleep you're getting per night,

and even how much exercise you're getting in.

Just as a commitment list can make it easier to

notice how much an INFJ really has on their plate,

an accomplishment list can make it easier

rolls into the next, without giving us the

exhaustingly high standards for themselves,

this solution to INFJ burnout is one that really

shouldn’t be overlooked. And while it’s not a

total solution without the addition of some of

the other points mentioned in today’s video,

seeing all of their accomplishments on paper

allows an INFJ to more easily take a step down

from their overworking mindset and realize

that everything will get done eventually.

We said it.. It’s vacation time! Everyone needs

a little R & R, and INFJs are one of the most

deserving of it. When they’ve been grinding

constantly absorbing the energies around them,

attending social events that they didn't really

want to go to in the first place, and being the

counsellor for all their friends and family, a

week-long vacation is no longer a want but in fact

a necessity. While the vacation may be spent half

relaxing and half worrying about all the things

they need to do when the week is over - it’s still

extremely beneficial to be able to let their guard

down and enjoy themselves with no expectations.

While walks in nature and creative outlets can

indeed ground an INFJ from their overactive minds,

grounding habits that they know work for them.

Some habits may include daily meditation,

or even simply taking a hot bath every night.

Meditation being one of the grounding tools that

INFJs specifically can benefit from because

of their sometimes uncontrollable thoughts,

as mediation allows them to slowly but surely

learn how to control the flow of their minds

rather than feel controlled by it. Yet, overall,

to have a daily grounding practise can make

might mistake themselves for the other type.

But there are actually ten key differences

that illustrate just HOW different these two

brilliant personality types are from each other.

Welcome back psychos! Today we’ll be looking at

how you can tell yourself (or someone else) apart

from either INTJ or INTP. Don’t forget to like

meaning, or large-scope vision of a thing.

Which is in contrast to internally analyzing

and categorizing the information they perceive.

For them, getting into “the zone” comes from

getting a sense of seeing the future and then

INTPs, on the other hand, are more naturally

inclined towards Introverted Thinking. They feel

completely at home with logical analysis and

complex problem-solving. You’ll see them thrive

at solving puzzles, categorizing the data they

come across, and then refining information to

find the closest thing they can to “truth”. They

also enjoy visualizing future possibilities,

but logical analysis is their go-to activity.

a process called Extraverted Thinking. Everything

should be sorted in accordance with a certain

system or category, and have its own place.

In short, INTJS prize a streamlined, efficient

environment. They usually have no problem

directing and delegating (although they might

think they can do things better on their own).

INTPs follow a different process. They’re often

uninterested in their external environment’s exact

condition, caring only about their internal world.

So long as they can sort out their own ideas,

theories, thoughts and facts, and keep them

So long as they can figure out where to put new

information into their mental rolodex, their

outside environment could be less than perfect.

This process is called Introverted Thinking.

Difference #3 – Where They Get “Hunches” From

If you find yourself getting an “aha” moment while

doing something random like cooking dinner or

taking a shower, you’re more likely to be INTJ.

That’s when you run to your notepad or computer,

get it out of your head, and then analyze it to

figure out how you came to that conclusion.

INTPs differ in that they consciously sit down

and then see patterns in data and information.

The possibilities and ideas occur to them,

and they analyze each to determine which is the

most viable. Or to put it shortly, INTJs seem

to get their visions out of the blue, vs INTPs

who find their needle by searching the haystack

Times of stress bring out more of an INTP or

INTJ’s natural differences as well. However, it’s

important to keep in mind that both tend to grow

detached and problem-focused. The difference is

whether they do it through thinking or intuition.

These variances also intensify depending on how

stressed they are. Under normal levels of stress

INTJs become more reclusive, focused on abstract

mental scenarios. INTPs, alternately, obsess

over analyzing data and their past experiences.

But when the stress grows extreme or recurs on

a regular basis, INTJs wrap themselves in a

sensory activity to indulge in. Consuming more

food or drink, obsessing over environmental

details, or over-exercising are examples.

INTPs experiencing the same levels or frequency

of stress become strangely sensitive and insecure.

In contrast to shutting out the world via sensory

experience, they take things completely to heart,

Difference #5 – How They Apply Their Knowledge

To put it simply, the INTJ applies knowledge

externally, while the INTP applies knowledge

internally.. But what does that even mean? Well..

INTJs need their accrued knowledge to impact

the world. With introverted intuition and

extroverted thinking as their two main functions,

the INTJ uses knowledge to improve their external

environment. Their lessons and insights become

fuel for strategically making a more efficient,

improved outer world, ultimately with the hope of

solving the world's problems on some level.

It’s different for INTPs who just want to learn

“for the sake of learning”. With the opposite

dominant functions of external intuition and

internal thinking, the INTJ wants to broaden

world’s functions. They don’t feel compelled

to necessarily do anything with the information

they know, meaning they don’t feel as called

to implement change in their outside world.

INTJs want to achieve their goals, focused on

their personal value system. It’s not necessary

for others to agree with them - the proof is

in the pudding so to speak. In their view,

On the surface, INTPs don’t seem to care about

social opinion. They look self-absorbed in

creating and refining their inner systems,

understanding the world. They seek to shape it

in accordance with their own “mental blueprint”,

evaporates when people disagree with them.

They grow frustrated, because in the end they DO

want to have a positive response to their efforts.

Ironically, they have a harder time expressing

both their thoughts and solutions than INTJs

precisely because their knowledge is so focused

internally during their usual functioning.

Difference #7 – Appearing Direct or Flexible

INTJs appear blunt and logical in their speech,

But INTPs prefer to discuss ideas, angles,

They don’t mind pointing out what’s false but

don’t want to say they’re correct - in fact,

they see so many ways of looking at things

that what is “correct” seems hard to judge

to them. Skepticism and questioning comes

naturally to INTPs, but they see the conclusion

as something to be found, not experienced, and

so take more time to form their conclusions.

Similar to their approaches to social opinion,

INTJs generally prefer to work on their own,

achieving their desired results. When leading,

they prefer the individuals they’re leading

to enjoy the high-level intellectual debate

with questions - preferring instead that they

follow their own initiative. They want any sort

of discussion or debate that is ultimately brought

to them to be well thought-through by that point,

versus a constructive discovery that’s shared

between them. In short, they want things prepared

before they occur, instead of reveling in the

experience of building the plan with others.

While both INTJs and INTPs excel at problem

solving- becoming obsessive about the process

in their own unique ways -they divert from each

other in how they interact with others emotionally

and how well they perceive the emotions of others.

While INTJs tend to perceive and understand

the feelings and intent of others rather well

due to their enjoyment of stimulating intellectual

debates, INTPs struggle here. They’re so used to

determining the logical system of problems and

systems in their heads that when they have to

deal with something decidedly illogical like

someone’s subjective emotions and feelings,

it’s so foreign to them that they tend to

come across as cold and uncaring. After all,

they’re primary interest is solely in the

actual solving of problems, not experiencing

Ultimately, INTPs are in a constant state of

discovery. Because they are more focused on

learning for its own sake. This leads to less of

a focus on being right, particularly given they

don’t much care how their answers impact the

world around them. This leads to them being

single-minded in their search and often detached

from anything beyond that thirst for knowledge.

INTJs share many of these characteristics, whether

it’s the unyielding desire for more knowledge or

being constantly aware of opportunities to make

a new connection. However, they differ in that

they externalize their thoughts and desires. It

isn’t enough for them to learn something new or

go down another mental rabbit hole. They need it

to mean something- to lead to a tangible result

like a successful campaign or project in the real

world. This also leads them to growing frustrated

when they fail, since they so heavily associate

themselves with their results and competence.

For them it isn’t enough to learn more- what

they know and are capable of now needs to be

two personality types? Let us know in the
