Alright, let’s get right into it starting with..
Number 1: Low appetite & other physical symptoms
With extraverted sensing and feeling as 2 of their
4 functions, the INFJ is no stranger to bodily
sensitivity in reaction to their environment.
and even feeling the physical pains of other
people are all familiar to most INFJs, but
when this highly sensitive personality type isn’t
feeling 100%, their vulnerable sensitive nervous
system can fire in ways that aren’t always
so easy to relate back to emotion. Similar
to physical symptoms of depression or anxiety,
INFJs may feel low appetite, energy changes,
and poor gut health. These bodily sensations
settling right - often before the INFJ can even
acknowledge it for themselves. Not only can these
physical symptoms be scary, but they can also
add more unnecessary pressure to the situation.
Number 2: Unnecessarily controlling things
INFJs love to have control. In fact, INFJs
need to have control especially when it comes to
the satisfaction of their lives. They like to know
that things are in order, and are contributing to
the grander idea they hold in their imaginations.
And so, when the sense of control dwindles
through a dissatisfying job, relationship or
personal commitment, it’s no surprise they begin
to look for control elsewhere. They may find
themselves over controlling as a parent or even
overcontrolling things like their personal diet
and lifestyle choices.. This sense of control
ends up being not only annoying and exhausting
to the INFJ, but also to the people who fall into
being controlled. Yet, unfortunately the reasoning
behind this sense of control stems from the need
for structure in outer circumstances to counteract
the uncertainty in their head. Like most of us,
when INFJs feel unstable, they begin to find
things outside of themselves that give them that
sense of stability and order, which ultimately
gives them a sense of satisfaction in their lives.
an outsider’s perspective, but for the most
part, this analytical personality type is
known for weighing out the pros and cons of
their decisions before taking any immediate
steps. However, when the INFJ has an underlying
feeling of dissatisfaction in life, all of
that can immediately change. This impulsivity
can present itself through hurried decisions,
reckless last-minute actions, and even impatience
to the people around them. A secretly unhappy INFJ
may even find themselves unusually blurting out
things they don’t really mean, splurging their
savings or making last-minute plans for activities
they probably won’t actually enjoy when the time
comes. Maybe you think a night of clubbing will
cure you’re unhappiness INFJ, but we’re here to
remind you.. A night of loud music and flashing
lights sounds like more fun from the comfort of
your bed than it will on the dance floor.
Exhaustion is the first sign of burnout for
most people, but for the highly sensitive INFJ,
seemingly never ending exhaustion can come
far before burnout hits. INFJs don’t need
to be totally burnt of all their resources
to know that there's something in their life
that they don’t exactly jive with. Because
this personality type is so familiar with the
exhaustion can be like a rude wake up call telling
them something isn’t right. This constantly
nagging exhaustion can act as a clear indicator
from their introverted intuition that something
needs to be evaluated, yet, it doesn’t always
mean that something is necessarily wrong. In fact,
without a clear vision of their future goals,
INFJs can see life in a completely different way;
one that feels apathetic and uninteresting. And
in these circumstances they may feel the need to
slack on their responsibilities, sleep too much
or just emotionally and energetically shut down.
goals..If there aren’t any.. Be alarmed. For, if
the INFJ is lacking future insights, imaginative
possibilities and analyzed future outcomes,
there’s some serious underlying unhappiness
that is sucking every last bit of hope from their
future projections. When an INFJ is truly unhappy,
they can’t quite use their functions as they
normally do, and as a result, can’t quite analyze
months and years to come. As a consequence,
they may unhappily stay in commitments such as a
relationship or job position for longer than they
should, for they can’t imagine their next steps,
beyond this unhappy phase of their lives. Should
they try to use their natural future-predicting
skills in these times, they may be met with a
foggy darkness of confusion and pessimism..
Ultimately leading to a seemingly never-ending
downward spiral. Luckily, it ends eventually, as
most INFJs won’t stay in this rut for too long.
lack of interest in things you used to enjoy is,
in fact, one of the key indicators of depression.
and that depression can easily be related to their
underlying feelings of discontentment in life,
sometimes feeling a disinterest in the things
that used to bring them joy isn’t always about
depressive feelings. Because INFJs have this
innate notion of an all or nothing attitude,
they may often approach their hobbies, goals,
This means, when INFJs are feeling good, they can
easily weeks, months, and even years contributing
to specific hobbies and goals. Yet, the moment
they feel off-put by something, even if they
can’t put a finger on it, all that could change.
Ultimately leaving the INFJ feeling uninspired and
unmotivated to do anything above the necessities.
When INFJs are feeling less than up to par,
immense critical judgment towards themselves,
as well as the people around them. Mostly
pertaining to the people they trust and care
about the most, an INFJs secret unhappiness can
cause them to be critical of other people’s lives
and decisions, even when it has nothing to do with
them. While this also acts as a sense of control
which subconsciously gives the INFJ a feeling of
being grounded, this critical judgment also allows
them to deflect any chances of being challenged on
their less-than-optimistic behaviour from others.
Yet, as we know, if an INFJ is holding these
high standards to others, they’re usually holding
even higher standards for themselves, which
underlying unhappiness can definitely exacerbate.
of distractions and procrastination, but when
they're ready to put their minds to work, they
can reach a state of flow that is unmatchable.
That is, if they’re feeling like themselves.
When INFJs are feeling good, they actually find
enjoyment in focusing on one thing at a time by
diving into deep analysis and introspection.
Yet, when they’re feeling underlying stress,
discontentment, worry, or uncertainty, they aren’t
able to utilize this lazer-focus trait properly,
It’s like there's something tugging at their
attention span, and sometimes this distraction can
be so loud that the INFJ may resort to shutting
everything out completely with utter solitude.
